The only way I could think of to start off the blog is with what started the whole UK underground scene in my opinion, London Posse's first and only full length LP, Gangster Chronicle. Originally released in 1990 by Mango Records.

London Posse was a hip-hop group from London, England. The group originally consisted of Rodney P, Bionic MC, Sipho the Human Beatbox and DJ Biznizz. This foursome was assembled specifically to tour the US supporting Mick Jones of The Clash.

They had some initial success with their eponymous first single, produced by radio DJ Tim Westwood, which told the story of their trip to New York. Following this Sipho and DJ Biznizz left the group, but Rodney P and Bionic perservered.

The duo went on to release an all-time classic UK hip-hop album in the form of 'Gangster Chronicle'. After releasing a slew of great singles Bionic left the group in the late-90's to supposedly pursue a career as a jungle MC.

Rodney P continued as a solo artist, hooking up with DJ Skitz, The Nextmen, Dobie and others to great success. Rodney P and Skitz now have a national hip-hop radio show on BBC 1Xtra.

These guys were like the British Wu-Tang...
